This weeks shooting assignment was Halloween. In this photo, I went to a grocery store and found many pumpkins awaiting to be sold. I loved the monochromatic colours with the orange exterior and the orange pumpkins. The texture of the pumpkins also gave the picture good contrast. First, I lens corrected and cropped. In the original there was an unattractive black line so I cropped the top. Then, I didn't white balance because it gave a dull tint, so instead I turned the temperature up to +5 to give it warmth. Then, I increased the contrast to +18 to bring out the shadows and the indents of the pumpkins. Next, I decreased the shadows to -21 and blacks to +25 to increase the darkness and prominence of the shadows. I didn't need to saturate the photo because the colours were already bright enough.

On the Sunday before Halloween, a friend and I adventured in Walkerville and found very festive yards. It captured the spirit of Halloween with the classic witch character and the excitement of decorating for Halloween. I took a photo of a yard with a silhouette of a witch with pumpkins peeking out of the background. First, I cropped the photo from the bottom to decrease the amount of black and lens corrected. I then tinted the temperature to +10 to bring out the yellows and oranges in the photo. Then, I brought the tint to -5 to enhance the greenery. Next, I increased the contrast to +11 to bring out the witch silhouette and the lines in the exterior of the house. Then, I decreased the highlights to -46 to decrease the overcast of the sky. Then I decreased the whites to -3 and decreased the blacks to -57 to get a solid black colour in the silhouette. Lastly, I increased the vibrance to +16 to bring out the bright pops of colour in the photograph.

While in Walkerville, I spotted a display in a window and captured it. I loved how it represents Halloween with the skull, potion book, cauldron and leaves. First, I cropped the photo from the bottom and left side because in the original photo, the display window edges were unflattering. To enhance the warm colours in the photo I increased the temperature +7 and I tinted to +18 to bring out the reds. The lighting was a tad dark so I increased the exposure to +0.80. Next, I decreased the highlights to -39 to fix the overexposure for the area outside of the window. Lastly, I increased the vibrance to +21 and saturation to +12 because the original lighting was very dull.
