Our shooting assignment this week was to take pictures of our pets or other animals. I photographed my dog Bella and they're truly some of the cutest pictures of her I've ever seen. In this photo she looks very happy and excited, and this photo was a great example of shallow depth of field. Bella was in focus while the rest of the photo was blurred and made Bella the centre of attention. What I first did with the photo was crop it so the table leg wasn't at the very edge of the photo, making the photo look awkward and I white balanced and lens corrected. Next I enhanced the colour of her fur by increasing the temperature to +3 and the pink hues of the walls to +4. I increased the contrast to +6 to make the blacks of Bella's eyes pop. Next, I lightened the picture with shadows to +21 and whites to +7 to brighten the white in her fur. Then I increased the vibrance to +6 to make the overall photo brighter. Lastly, I used the burn tool to darken the blacks in her eyes and pupil.
In this photo Bella appears to be tired and sleepy while hanging off the staircase. I improved this photo by fixing the angle of the photo and making sure she was perpendicular to the ground. Next, I white balanced and lens corrected. First, to bring out the golden tones in her fur I increased the temperature to +7, than I warmed the picture up to +14 with tint. Next I increased the contrast to +16 to differ the whites and blacks on the dog. Next, I increased the shadows to +16 to get rid of any unwanted darkness. Lastly, I increased the vibrance to +7 to make the colour more saturated and brighter. I really enjoyed this photo because my dog appeared happy and this photo was the perfect examples of shallow depth of field. Bella was in focus and crystal clear, while the background was blurred. I cropped this photo a little from the top, and lens corrected. I brought out her fur by increasing the temp to +5 and sliding the tint to the green side to bring out the grass and trees in the backyard. I increased the contrast to +8 to create more contrast between lights and darks. Then, I increased shadows to +12 because the lighting outside was somewhat dark and overcast. Lastly, I increased vibrance to +4 to bring out any colours that would pop. |
